It is an A4 inkjet printer with a flat profile and an imprint of about 43 x 38 cm on a desk. The main paper tray is at the base of the printer and can be loaded from the front. The printouts appear at the front on the output tray located just above it. This means that the paper path is curved, but you wouldn’t really know it from the straight and unfolded output received.

You must install six ink cartridges before you can use the printer. These are located in the print head that moves from left to right when the paper rolls feed the sheet below. You won’t find the hair tube technology on this model. To install the cartridges, which include two black, grey, cyan, magenta and yellow tanks, you must lift the top panel where the LCD screen is located. It’s very easy to do because the mechanics are smooth and well designed.

The output tray, too, contains very smooth mechanisms when you open and close it. If you forget to open it before you start printing, the printer opens it by itself. When you close it again, the bin extension will automatically fold back. As for relatively inexpensive printers (although $ AU189 per day is not so cheap for a printer nowadays), it is a well-built machine.

What is disappointing is that Canon always sends the printer drivers to a CD rather than a USB stick. This should not be a problem if you are using Windows 8, because you can simply use the Windows “Add Printer ” function to install it automatically. However, we tried with a Windows 7 Pro laptop that could not find it as well and the Windows drivers listed on the Canon site.

Since MG7560 is considered a cloud printer, we avoid connecting it directly to our computers via USB and instead use Wi-Fi. The process of getting the printer on our network was simple: We searched for the name of the wireless network, chose it, and then entered our password to authenticate the printer. The LCD screen of the printer is a touch screen and it was easy to type and select items with our index finger.

Once the printer is connected to your wireless network, you can perform smart tasks, such as connecting to the Google Cloud Print service. Again, it’s a simple thing to do: you enter the corresponding setup procedure on the printer, then you print a URL or you display a QR code to open the Web address to use to authenticate the printer with Google Cloud Print. . We print Google Docs via the Chrome browser in no time.

With Google Cloud print, you can print your documents from anywhere you have access to the Internet, not just from desktops, but also from mobile devices. You can access other aspects of the cloud by installing the Canon PIXMA Mobile application, which allows you to connect more services to the printer, including OneDrive, Dropbox, Evernote, Flickr, etc. You can also choose to connect Google Cloud Print through this application, which we did to scan documents directly to Google Docs.

Scanning was not as easy as we thought. After scanning through the printer’s built-in menu, we only had the option of scanning to a PC connected via USB or scanning to an email. We couldn’t use any of these options, and there was none to scan to a computer or mobile device over Wi-Fi. We have found it much easier to simply use the Pixma mobile application to run scans (up to 300 dpi, as PDF or JPG files) and store them in Google Docs to find them easily.
