Canon PIXMA PRO-100 Printer Reviews– Canon Mark II’s PIXMA Pro9000 printer is a popular choice for photographers who want to print with bar paints (not pigments) with rich color and good printing. As part of the update line for your desktop printer, Canon replaced this printer with the new PIXMA Pro-100. Based on the top of the PIXMA Pro-1 line, it is a 13×19 printer that uses Canon’s Chromalif 100+ ink. When changing the original model, this printer uses three black-black, gray, and light gray for better black and white printing than previously possible.

Other new features include the same image optimization technology found in the Pro-1 printer, the new Print Studio Pro plugin for better printing directly from Photoshop and Digital Image Pro, cd/DVD printing support, and AirPrint for wireless printing from iOS devices, and WiFi.

Installation
The printer is packaged in normal Canon mode, neatly with a very blue removal bar, and with good instructions starting with a Quick Install Guide. After unpacking and creating small strips of the mountain belt, you will install the print head, and in this 8 ink cartridges-black, cyan, crimson color, yellow, blue, photo purple, gray, light gray. Replacing the ink for about $17 per cartridge. The size of the cartridge is the same as the previous Pro9000 Mark II, which should say that you should have spare parts at hand if you are doing a large amount of printing.

The settings on my network were more problematic than usual. I could not get the setup program to recognize the WiFi printer. After several attempts, finally, connect to the computer via USB to complete the installation. The printer then runs flawlessly on WiFi.

Connection settings include USB, Ethernet, and the aforementioned WiFi. For users of iOS devices, such as the iPad or iPhone, the Pro-100 also supports AirPrint. I only made a few prints from my iPad, but the process couldn’t be easier โ€“ the iPad recognizes every AirPrint printer on the same network and sends files.

There are two ways of feeding pro-100 paper, support for standard photo drains with up to 20 sheets and a back for loading a single sheet for heavy works of art.

Included are Canon’s print studio pro software, a Photoshop, and Lightroom plugin, as well as a digital photography professional, Canon’s image processing software for their mirrored line. You also have a quick menu that gives you easy access to the rest of suite software โ€“ CD printing, easy photo printing and custom image printing filters, a small app that applies special effects to your images. They are all great for ordinary users, but I think most people who buy a printer in this class will use Photoshop or Lightroom to print them.

Pigmentation vs. Coloring
One of the main results of printing the paint in ink is the saturation of colors compared to paint ink. Pigments have come a long way, and it’s really not a problem. So, the ink paint on photographic paper with the Pro-100 has little more than the same print and paper in pro-10 pigment, but it is thin and really only visible when the prints are placed side by side.

On the other side of the coin, the ink paint is traditionally shorter than pigments. Canon and Epson have done an excellent job of improving the life of paints, with Canon claiming over 100 years with the current model (hence CHROMALIF 100+ name)

Is easy to use
After installation, the printer was very straight forward to use. Printing in Photoshop via printing Studio Pro Software was the easiest way as all documents are listed in the correct names, making it easy to get the expected results. Printing with Photoshop-managed color is a little harder because Canon doesn’t always use the same name for their profiles as the paper uses. To print to my normal documents, MOAB and “Moab lasal show Shine, I used profiles available on the Moab website, printing directly in Photoshop.

In all cases, the printing on glossy and glossy documents looked beautiful. The colors just pop up paper, with solid color in rich areas than I could get from Pro-1. Compared to the Pro-1 print, color saturation was higher, but the prints themselves looked a little hazy. If you are going to print on fine art paper with Pro-100, you want to decrease the saturation of about 10%. Especially in images with skin tones, this color saturation is obvious and too strong.

For black and white printing, additional gray and light grey inks make a very noticeable difference over Pro9000 Mark II, but they’re still not in line with a good pigment printer. Blacks have no densities, such as Epson 3880 or R3000. They are beautiful but have no contrast and deep black. That it though was a smooth gradational gradations than the equivalent of Epson, especially noticeable in the image of the sky.

For the American version of Canon now supports printing CD/DVD media. It has been available to international users for quite a while, but only recently those of us in the US have been able to do this on nothing but Epson. Print on CD/DVD straight forward using the enabled tray (for which Canon provides a storage slot for paper output tray.

Depending on the media used, there are separate outlines of paper. Each has its own case and the printer will not print from any path unless the other lid is open (something that threw me more than once when you change the documents).

Conclusion
So, what is the best printer โ€” the pigment Pro-10, which was introduced at the same time, replacing the Pro9500 Mark II, or the Pro-100? This is a very difficult solution. If you make the most of your printing on photographic events such as glitter and glitter and you shoot many scenery/flower-type photos, the Pro-100 is the clear winner. For the fine arts MEDIA, and especially the fine art of black and white, the choice is not so clear. The Pro-10 has matte black, but doesn’t have a second gray color. Still, I’d like to go with a Pro-10 printer for fine art. On $499, the Pro-10 is a solid value for money. You’ll get more prints with rich color and it will do it faster than any other printer in its class.
