WPS Connection Method Set Up
WPS Connection Method Set Up– If you have configured the wireless router yourself, you’ve come across the term WPS in the configuration menu, or you have seen the keypad marked WPS in addition to all ethernet port on the back of the router. Do you know what is WPS? The device and what operating system provides support for WPS? Learn the answers to these questions and many more, from this tutorial:
What is the meaning of the WPS Connection Method Set Up?
WPS stands for Wi-Fi Protected Setup. This is the default wireless network security that attempts to make the connection between the router and wireless devices faster and easier. WPS works only for wireless networks using encrypted passwords with security protocols WPA Personal or WPA2 Personal. WPS does not work on wireless networks that use WEP security that is no longer used, which can be exploited easily by hackers anywhere with a set of tools and basic skills.
In the default setting, you can not connect wireless devices to a wireless network unless you know the network name (also called SSID) and password (also called key to WPA-PSK). Let’s assume that you want to connect a device, such as your Smartphone, to your wireless network. On your device, you must first select the network you want to connect, and then enter the security password. Without doing these two steps, You cannot connect to a WiFi network.
This is where the WPS enters to simplify the process of connection. Read on to find out how.
What can be done WPS?
WPS can sometimes simplify the connection process. This way the WPS connection can be done:
- Press the WPS on your router to enable the discovery of new devices. Select the network you want to connect. The device connects automatically to a wireless network without entering a password.
- You might have devices such as a wireless printer or ekstender range with WPS button on their own that you can use to make quick connections. Connect them to your wireless network with WPS button on the router and then on the device. They will be connected to the same network in the future without requiring you to use the WPS button again.
- The method involves the use of eight-digit PIN. All routers with WPS is enabled to have the PIN code created automatically, and it cannot be changed by the user. You can find this PIN in the WPS configuration page in your router. Some devices without WPS button WPS-enabled but will ask for a PIN it. If you put it, they authenticate themselves and connect to a wireless network.
- The last method also involves the use of eight-digit PIN. Some devices without WPS button but with support WPS PIN will result in the client. You can then enter this PIN in wireless configuration panel of your router, and the router will use it to add devices to your network.
Although the first two methods are fast, the last two provide no benefits whatsoever regarding the time it takes to connect a device to your wireless network. You must type in the eight-digit PIN that and type in the password of the wireless network the same slowness. The fourth method of connecting to a wireless network even slower because you have to access the wireless router’s configuration section and type the PIN provided by a client device. If you want to know how WPS PIN is visible, this is generated by the router TP-Link Archer C1200.
While on the router you things will look different, the process for connecting devices via WPS PIN work together.
Where do I find my WPS on my router?
Because the wireless router is the wireless connection set up through WPS, they are the most popular types of devices that provide support for network security standards. Almost all modern routers have support WPS. On many routers, WPS is enabled by default. Enable WPS manually performed well through the firmware of your router, and its administrative user interface, or using the WPS button.
On most routers, WPS button is on the back of the router, in addition to the Ethernet port. Press once, and WPS is enabled and functioning. You can then connect your wireless device through the WPS. In the image below, you can see how the button is visible on the ASUS routers.
